Description
Make Algae Great Again is the shirt summing up Washington's strangest news story of summer 2026 — a $16 million Reflecting Pool renovation that turned the National Mall's most iconic water feature bright green within days of reopening. If you've been following the algae bloom saga next to the Lincoln Memorial, this satirical tee turns the headlines into wearable humor perfect for the 2026 midterm season.
Why Fans Are Buying This Shirt
The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool made national headlines in June 2026 after a freshly painted "American flag blue" basin turned the water a startling shade of green, prompting crews to scramble with hydrogen peroxide and ozone treatments. Make Algae Great Again pokes fun at the mismatch between big promises and bigger algae blooms, giving political satire fans a design rooted in a real, current event instead of a recycled joke.
Perfect For
- Political satire and current-events humor fans
- DC locals and National Mall visitors
- Midterm election season conversation starters
- Anyone who loves a sharp, news-driven punchline

FAQ
Why did the Reflecting Pool turn green?
A 2026 renovation resurfaced the pool with a darker basin that absorbs more sunlight, creating warm-water conditions that fueled a fast algae bloom shortly after refilling.
Is this shirt tied to a specific political party?
No — Make Algae Great Again is a non-partisan, news-driven joke about a viral public-works mishap, designed for anyone who appreciates current-events satire.
